I create and administer websites for individuals and small businesses, whether they're traditional bricks-and-mortar or wholly internet-based.

I will work with you to create the website that you want, and I will only sell you as much as you need. I will not sell you a "Complete website for £49.99" that ties you in to a pricy extended contract. You therefore get the product, and the price, that suits you.

For high-quality web design and hosting that's a little more individual than most, and tailored to meet your needs, please email

Choice 1
If you require a quick and low-cost solution, especially if you wish to make regular changes or updates yourself, or wish to blog, then a Wordpress-based site is probably ideal for you. Wordpress features a wide range of versatile templates with a user-friendly interface making it easy to add text and images, audio or video, additional pages, or blog comments. While the fact that it is template-based is quite distinctive, its quick set-up and ease of use for the non-techie are very appealing. It also features a wide range of plug-ins, apps and widgets to add content of all kinds, and to integrate with social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. If your business demands it, it provides an excellent means of feedback and communication with your customers and clients. For a good example of a Wordpress site, see British Sea Fish.
Wordpress-based website costs
There are three elements to the cost of a site:
  • The initial cost of designing and building the site, registering the domain and getting everything working
  • The annual cost of renewing the domain registration
  • Costs of maintenance and tech support, adding new content, etc.

  • Typical costs are as follows:
Type of site 1st domain registration* Design & building Total initial cost Annual domain hosting & renewal*
    Wordpress installation, setup and site design Approx. £30.00 £60.00 £90.00 £25.00 - £30.00

Maintenance is charged at £15 per hour, and can include anything from adding new pages, text or images to the site, to setting up email accounts or mailing lists, supplying business cards and flyers, and general tech support on PCs and software.
    * - cost depends on whether the domain is a .com, .co.uk, .org, .net, etc.

    Choice 2
For bespoke sites I prefer to create websites from scratch, rather than using templates; this takes a little longer to set up, but results in a more individual-looking site, tailored to complement the style of your business or activity. Since all the HTML code is written by hand, it is less suited to you making alterations to the site yourself, unless you are an experienced coder with time on your hands. It is therefore ideal for a more 'traditional' looking site, which will not need frequent updates.
    Bespoke website costs
Again, there are three elements to the cost of a website:
  • The initial cost of designing and building the site, registering the domain and getting everything working
  • The annual cost of renewing the domain registration
  • Costs of maintenance and tech support, adding new content, etc.

  • Typical costs are as follows:
Type of site 1st domain registration* Design & building Total initial cost Annual domain hosting & renewal*
    Simple site, 1 - 3 pages Approx. £30.00 £75.00 £105.00 £25.00 - £30.00

    6 - 8 page site, plus email account, etc. Approx. £30.00 £150.00 £180.00 £25.00 - £30.00

    10 page or more site, plus email account, etc. Approx. £30.00 £225.00 £255.00 £25.00 - £30.00

As above, maintenance is charged at £15 per hour, and can include the full range of updates and tech support services.
    * - cost depends on whether the domain is a .com, .co.uk, .org, .net, etc.
